FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When can I enter counselling after a bereavement?
There is no set time, grief doesn’t have a timeline, and everyone’s journey is different.
Ultimately, the best time to start counselling is when you feel ready.
Does it matter how long ago I lost someone?
No. Counselling can be helpful even years after the loss.
Maybe life events or anniversaries are triggering unresolved grief?
How do I get over a loss?
Loss is something that can stay with you, shaping your life in ways you might not expect.
It’s not about "getting over" a loss, but rather learning to live with it and finding ways to
move forward.
Grief is a journey not a destination. Counselling can offer a safe, space, where I can
empathically understand and offer support for your journey.
I lost my job – does that count?
Yes. It is natural to grieve the loss of something that played a significant role in your life. Maybe it has affected your stability, your purpose or your identity.
Working with a counsellor can help to explore and identify your feelings and support you
to consider new possibilities and reassess your goals.
Why do I feel I have lost who I am?
Transitions, changes or different phases of life may make you feel
like you have lost who you are, whilst you try to adapt and navigate new circumstances.
Maybe you feel disconnected from your identity, purpose or who you are.
This can arise from various experiences including:
Trauma
Life transitions
Chronic stress
Relational issues
This process can be challenging, however working together in counselling
can help you on a journey of self-discovery and growth.
I offer an integrative approach, drawing on different forms of therapy that are effective with your experience which may support you to:
Rediscover your identity
Rebuild your self-esteem
Reconnect with your sense of purpose
